SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST CASE STUDY: GREG PAGE, THE WIGGLES
“The last thing I remember is laying on the ground struggling to breathe, but after having just done a full on wiggles show that wasn’t unusual. Little did I know that could have been my last few breaths.”
He is the yellow-skivvied childhood hero, who got kids jiggling and giggling to songs more contagious than laughter. Yummy Yummy Fruit Salad was a distant memory for one of the founding members of The Wiggles, Greg Page, after he collapsed at a bushfire relief concert in January 2020.
He woke up in the hospital to hear the shocking words, “You had a heart attack that caused a cardiac arrest”. His survival is down to the quick thinking of some in the audience, however… the greater thanks goes to the person who purchased and installed a defibrillator in the venue he was at.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone—anywhere. That’s why public access defibrillators are so important.
